Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom ISP Full time

About Us

Founded by a dedicated group of Foster Parents, we proudly stand as the UK's first independent Foster Care agency, benefiting from extensive fostering experience.

Our founders recognized the unique needs of looked-after children, particularly those with challenging beginnings, and prioritized their well-being by providing specialized support. This child-centered approach is the essence of our Integrated Service Programme (ISP).

Over the years, our support network has expanded to include a diverse team of professionals, including social workers, fostering advisors, educators, and therapists. Together, we collaborate with foster parents and the children in their care, assisting them in navigating even the most complex situations through a 'therapeutic approach' to fostering that we pioneered.

What We Are Looking For

Foster parents, like our children, require ongoing support, encouragement, and practical guidance, as well as someone to lend an ear.

The Fostering Advisors within our teams play a vital role in delivering the necessary support to our foster parents. This essential position involves regular visits to foster families, providing them with advice and information about the array of services and support available through ISP, including matching considerations, respite care, training, supervised contact, and transportation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular phone communication with foster parents to discuss progress and share strategies.
  • Conduct home visits as coordinated with the ISP Social Worker and Registered Manager.
  • Offer foster parents relevant information and guidance on available support and services through ISP and the Fostering Network, particularly regarding procedures for allegations or complaints.
  • Coordinate training sessions for foster parents.
  • Engage actively in: contact arrangements, respite and transport logistics, TSDS training, crisis intervention, and matching considerations.
  • Support children and young people in their recreational activities.
  • Facilitate discussion groups and presentations at the Centre, including participation in team meetings.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records as required.
  • Stay informed about applicable regulations and standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Registered Manager.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member and participate in ISP events.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Understanding of fostering regulations and standards, including the relevant Acts and National Minimum Standards.
  • Experience or knowledge of fostering, ideally as a foster parent or within a fostering family.
  • Previous experience or interest in working within a therapeutic childcare model.
  • Experience in providing support to foster parents and young individuals.
  • Strong understanding of attachment theory and therapeutic practices.
  • Ability to recognize foster parents as professionals and engage in constructive challenges when necessary.
  • Proficient in building positive working relationships with professionals across various disciplines.
  • Intermediate IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with spreadsheets and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workloads effectively.
  • Commitment to fostering positive relationships with staff, external agencies, children, young people, and foster parents.
  • A valid driving license and access to a vehicle, with confidence in driving across the region.
