Fostering Services Coordinator

About the Role
As a Fostering Advisor at ISP, you will play a critical role in supporting our foster parents and the children they care for. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that requires a high level of emotional intelligence, empathy, and understanding of the complexities of foster care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide regular phone and home visits to foster parents to discuss their progress, share ideas, and offer advice and support.
- Coordinate training for foster parents, including TSDS training and crisis intervention.
- Support children and young people in their leisure activities and assist in facilitating discussion groups and presentations at the ISP Centre.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records as required.
- Stay up-to-date with applicable regulations and standards, including the Children Act and Fostering Service National Minimum Standards.
Requirements
- Understanding of fostering regulations and standards, including the Children Act and Fostering Service National Minimum Standards.
- Some first-hand knowledge or experience of fostering, ideally as a foster parent or as part of a fostering family.
- Previous experience or a willingness to work in a therapeutic model of child care.
- Previous experience of providing support to foster parents and young people.
- Good understanding of attachment and working within a therapeutic model.
- Ability to recognize people who foster as professionals and challenge appropriately where necessary.
- Ability to build good working relationships with professionals from various disciplines.
- Intermediate IT skills, including Microsoft Office and experience of using spreadsheets and databases.
- Experience of planning, organizing, and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines and service requirements.
- Commitment to developing positive working relationships with other staff, outside agencies, children, young people, and foster parents.
- A full driving license and unrestricted access to your own vehicle.
