Position Overview
We are excited to present a unique opportunity for a Lead Pharmacy Support Specialist, designed to enhance the role of Pharmacy Assistants in the realm of medication management.
In this position, you will collaborate closely with the clinical pharmacy team at the ward level, ensuring optimal care for patients through effective medication management as per the training provided.
You will play a vital role within a diverse Dispensary team, responsible for conducting Final Accuracy Checks, with comprehensive training offered to ensure your success.
This pioneering role for Pharmacy Assistants within our Health Board is ideal for proactive and ambitious individuals who are eager to contribute to a supportive and diverse Pharmacy team.
This is a permanent, full-time position. Candidates should be prepared to participate in weekend and Bank Holiday rotas, as well as a late shift rota.

Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Pharmacy Support Specialist, you will:
- Perform general pharmaceutical tasks under the guidance of a line manager or deputy, contributing to a safe and effective Pharmacy service in accordance with established policies, procedures, and legal standards.
- Be an essential member of a multi-skilled Dispensary team, where your responsibilities will include dispensing various prescription types and executing Final Accuracy Checks following a clinical review by the Pharmacist. Training will be provided.
- Engage in patient services and ward-level activities, focusing on medication optimization and discharge processes. This includes evaluating patients' own medications for hospital suitability, facilitating one-stop dispensing for patient discharges, and managing non-stock medication orders. Training will be provided for these tasks.

Job Requirements
This position is classified as Band 4. Candidates should ideally possess the HEIW Medicines Management for Pharmacy Support Staff Training Programme and Accuracy Checking for Pharmacy Assistants qualifications. However, applicants without these qualifications are encouraged to apply and will be supported to achieve them within two years, under specific guidelines.
Language Proficiency
