Position Overview

Job Role: Cost Estimator

Location: Lincoln

Compensation: Up to £50,000 + Benefits

Are you a skilled Cost Estimator seeking a rewarding role in the social housing industry? Future Build Recruitment is collaborating with a prominent social housing organization to execute a range of planned projects, including Kitchen, Bathroom, Heating, and Groundwork initiatives across the Lincolnshire region.

In this role, you will engage in a cooperative setting, reporting to the Senior Cost Estimator and working closely with Operations Management. You will assume a pivotal role, overseeing junior Cost Estimators and contributing significantly to their professional growth. This position provides flexibility and the opportunity to positively impact the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the organization secures its complete entitlement within the framework of the Contract and further commercial discussions.
  • Comprehend the company’s values and procedures both internally and externally.
  • Assist the project team in achieving or surpassing budgetary goals.
  • Accountable for the application schedule of rates, serving as a subject matter expert for contractual agreements.
  • Enhance cash flow through monthly billing, implementing suitable procedures to address client inquiries, and ensuring timely cash receipt.
  • Monitor and evaluate management data and job costs against job revenue, supporting operations and finance to facilitate data-driven decision-making.
  • Identify potential disputes promptly and report to the line manager.
  • Ensure subcontractor orders accurately reflect main contract requirements and scope of work.
  • Assist the Senior Cost Estimator in the preparation and timely reporting of information, including Cost Value Reconciliations (CVR), Cost Value Comparison (CVC), and management accounts, providing governance of budgets through effective cost control.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Cost Estimator in social housing or a related field.
  • Strong grasp of contract management and commercial negotiations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in cost estimation or construction-related fields are advantageous.
