**Job Title : Building Surveyor/Clerk of Works**
**Actual Work Location : New Oxford House, Grimsby,**
**Job Duration : Contract**
**Pay : £ 20.00 /Hour**
- Provide design and technical support to building construction projects. Design of projects through site visits and the development of plans and specifications to deliver the requirements identified in the clinical assessment.
- Assist with providing technical advice and guidance on domestic property and/or DFG construction projects.
- Assist in the development of briefs, specifications, scopes of work and any other technical information to contribute to the delivery of DFG schemes, procurement and client's briefings.
- Develop knowledge to ensure all technical information provided is accurate to legislative standards, ACoPs and best practice.
- Assist to manage, as part of your development minor works and property construction projects, utilising the project management process and principals within EQUANS.
- Assist, as part of your development, with the issuing of works orders ensuring compliance with legislative, contractual and workmanship requirements, including the briefing and commissioning of all consultants and clients.
- Assist, as part of your development to prepare option appraisals, feasibility studies, estimates and the production of technical reports as required. Ensure that value is added to the work of the Section through innovation and creativity. Advise Clients and Service Managers on options and recommendations.
- Assist as part of your development to direct and monitor works to include contract variations, project costs and final accounts as appropriate. Assist in evaluating and determining appropriate actions where problems occur and report to client.
- Operate within the policies, systems and business plans of the Partnership and EQUANS
- Deliver all works in compliance with EQUANS Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality (SHEQ) standards and policies in line with ISO 45001 (Health & Safety), 14001 (Environmental) & ISO 9001 (Quality).
- Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected at this level. Clerk of Works - Key Accountabilities: The role will focus on the following requirements:
- Ensure that contractors construct in accordance with the contract documentation and drawings, monitor work on site, identify areas of conflict with drawings and specifications.
- Provide weekly, written progress reports to the Project Leader making note of defects and contract variations; recommend remedial action as necessary.
- Evaluate situations of potential conflict during the construction process and prepare options for remedial action. Instruct remedial action, particularly where an urgent health and safety risk is involved.
- Provide survey/dilapidations information. Assist in development of the project brief and identify aspects which can be enhanced to offer best value.
- Advise on feasibility options on minor projects or small elements of major projects and present recommendations where required to the Project Leader.
- Provide technical advice on construction sites and buildability advice to design team meetings.
- Take decisions when required, observing SHEQ (safety, health, environment, quality) procedures.
- Represent Equans and the Professional Services Team in monitoring aspects of health and safety on construction sites. Report concerns to the appropriate people.
- Provide information to assist the team in dealing with complaints and disputes.
- Undertake end of defects inspections with the Project team and provide snagging lists.
- Assist in establishing and implementing efficient and effective working practices and procedures.
- Undertake any other relevant duties as required which are commensurate with the post.
**ESSENTIAL**
- Experience in a building design or maintenance environment with experience in a variety of property construction projects
- Attitude, conduct and demeanour to reflect the EQUANS values and effectively represent the company when dealing with customers, consultants and contractors.
- Strong desire to share and support the future growth and success of the Partnership.
- Numeracy, statistical, communication and presentation skills
- Adaptability to change and new ways of working
- Flexibility in approach to meet the needs of the service
**DESIRABLE**:
- Experience and qualification in Auto CAD/2D & 3D
- Experience of CDM Regulations 2015 W Clerk of works
- Experience in working in the construction industry.
- Qualified to HNC level building studies or surveying, or a relevant equivalent is desirable.
- Sound knowledge of building design, construction, site administration and health and safety legislation/ CDM Regulations.
