Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity exists for a Senior Nutrition Specialist with expertise in Respiratory Care to join the multidisciplinary team at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. The role primarily involves working within specialized respiratory units, focusing on patients who require advanced respiratory support.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert nutritional support to critically ill patients in specialized respiratory care settings.
  • Offering specialized guidance to patients with complex respiratory conditions, including severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other related disorders.
  • Leading the dietetic service for respiratory patients, including managing a junior dietitian.
  • Collaborating with a diverse team of healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Engaging in innovative service development and implementation of dietary treatment protocols.
  • Participating in research and audit activities to improve clinical practices.

Essential Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or an equivalent qualification.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Significant post-graduate experience in a relevant clinical setting.
  • Advanced skills in nutritional assessment and management of enteral feeding.
