FHP is a well-established consultancy seeking a highly skilled Building Services Technical Director to join our team. As a leading provider of mechanical engineering services, we are committed to delivering high-quality projects to our clients.

Job Summary

We are looking for a self-motivated and ambitious individual with a mechanical engineering background to take a leading role on various projects across the UK. The ideal candidate will have team leadership skills, be capable of delivering high-profile projects to the highest standards, and have a strong understanding of building services design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mid to large-sized projects as the main engineer, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.
  • Maintain relationships with key clients and manage a team of engineers, promoting technical excellence and quality checks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and value engineering to ensure the success of projects.
  • Contribute to and provide information for fee proposals, showcasing the company's expertise and capabilities.
  • Mentor staff and promote continuing professional development (CPD) activities, ensuring the team's skills and knowledge are up-to-date.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in mechanical building services design, with a strong understanding of a wide range of market sectors.
  • Previous experience managing projects and small teams, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to provide technically sound design solutions, with proficiency in software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English, with the ability to inspire, influence, and negotiate with clients and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering, preferably Chartered or working towards Chartership status.
  • Membership of CIBSE or a relevant and equivalent professional body, demonstrating a commitment to professional development and industry standards.
