About the Role

The Financial Times is seeking an experienced news editor to lead our coverage of the Middle East and Africa. As a key member of our World News Desk, you will be responsible for overseeing the editorial direction of our coverage on two continents, working closely with our team of reporters and editors to deliver high-quality, in-depth reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission and edit stories on a wide range of topics, from politics and economics to business and culture
  • Work closely with our team of reporters to develop and implement editorial strategies for our coverage of the Middle East and Africa
  • Collaborate with other editors and departments to ensure seamless integration of our coverage across all platforms
  • Act as a key point of contact for correspondents and other stakeholders, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the regions and their complexities, staying up-to-date on the latest developments and trends

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in journalism and editorial experience, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality content. You will also need to have a deep understanding of the Middle East and Africa, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.
