Job Description

Job Summary:

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position in our External Communications team. As a Communications Officer, you will work closely with the team to support the planning and delivery of multiple successful and proactive campaigns, as well as being the first-line response to incoming issues and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the planning and delivery of PR activity across the John Lewis brand and categories, including Home, Fashion & Beauty, and customer-facing activity and services.
  • Develop and maintain a network of external stakeholders, including journalists, opinion formers, and influencers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant internal stakeholders, finding newsworthy new launches, stats, and stories for press and sharing coverage and results.
  • Support strategic planning by gathering external insight to build a media picture.
  • Use awareness of the external landscape to make informed decisions about communications opportunities.
  • Coordinate and lead press and influencer PR events.
  • Deputise for Senior Communications Officer(s) when necessary.

Requirements:

  • Previous in-house or agency PR experience.
  • Experience planning, supporting, and delivering PR and influencer campaigns and running events.
  • Creative writing skills and confidence in writing press releases.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work at pace on multiple projects in a high-pressured environment.
  • Experience managing a branded Instagram account.
  • Proficient with using Excel.
