Consultant Psychiatrist for Adults

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Adult Psychiatrist to join our team at Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our division of Planned Care, you will provide clinical leadership and support to our multidisciplinary team, working with patients who have complex and high-risk psychiatric conditions.
Main Responsibilities- Provide Medical Expertise and Clinical Leadership: You will be responsible for diagnostic assessments and treatment of patients with severe, complex, and high-risk psychiatric conditions, providing medical expertise and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in Service and Business Planning: You will participate in service and business planning activities for the locality and, as appropriate, for the whole mental health service, contributing to the development of our services and ensuring they meet the needs of our patients.
- Manage and Appraise Junior Medical Staff: You will be responsible for managing, appraising, and giving professional supervision to junior medical staff, ensuring they operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant.
- Ensure Quality and Safety: You will ensure that junior medical staff working with you operate within the parameters of the New Deal and are Working Time Directive compliant, and that our services meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Adult Psychiatrist who meets the following criteria:
- Essential Qualifications: MB BS or equivalent medical qualification, MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and Section 12 approval (or eligibility for S12 approval).
- Desirable Qualifications: Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
- Clinical Skills and Experience: Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in general adult psychiatry, including experience of working with service users who have complex needs within general adult psychiatry.
- Academic Skills and Lifelong Learning: Able to deliver undergraduate or postgraduate teaching and training, participate in continuous professional development, and participate in audit, quality improvement, research, and service evaluation.
