Job Description - Retail Store Associate
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Store Associate to join our team at Big Lots. As a key member of our sales floor team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a clean and organized store environment, and supporting the sales process.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences, making product recommendations to meet their needs.
- Store Operations
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the sales floor, stockroom, and customer service areas.
- Support the sales process by restocking shelves, processing transactions, and handling customer returns and exchanges.
- Team Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with other sales floor team members to achieve sales goals and provide exceptional customer service.
- Participate in visual merchandising and inventory management activities to ensure a visually appealing and well-stocked store environment.
Requirements
- Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior retail experience preferred.
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Basic math skills and accuracy with handling cash and operating a point-of-sale system.
