Role Overview

POSITION: Senior Product Owner – Cards (Data)
COMPENSATION: £73,000 - £86,000

About the Role
We are excited to announce a pivotal opportunity within the Cards Lab for a Product Owner who will spearhead the evolution of cloud-based data solutions. This role is integral to our investment in Lloyds Technology Centre, positioning our Card services at the forefront of the consumer banking data transformation journey.

The Cards Platform is a collaborative environment filled with talented individuals dedicated to crafting innovative solutions for genuine customer and colleague challenges. This position is ideal for those eager to cultivate thought leadership on how data can revolutionize the Card sector, in partnership with experienced product managers, and drive this vision into actionable results alongside CDAO and Consumer Lending Data Optimization teams.

We encourage applications from candidates with a technical background aspiring to transition into a Product Owner role, although this is not a prerequisite. The ability to pose insightful questions is crucial for success in this position, fostering personal knowledge growth and inspiring your team to approach problems from fresh perspectives.

Our lab is committed to aiding Britain’s recovery through responsible lending, and in this capacity, you will collaborate across the lab to ensure we meet this objective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establishing and executing Card Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) related to the enhancement of data and analytics capabilities within GCP.
  • Collaborating with essential stakeholders in Credit Card strategy to convert business and analytical needs into effective data solutions.
  • Enhancing business performance and customer satisfaction by identifying key opportunity areas:
    • Performance insights, business processes, and treatment automation.
    • Unlocking the potential of advanced analytical tools such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
    • Transforming customer experiences through value-added and real-time services.
    • Supporting analyst productivity and performance.
    • Complementing broader modernization initiatives, including risk transformation and API integration with FISERV.
    • Assisting in foundational data activities such as profiling, cleansing, quality assurance, and validation, leveraging tools like Collibra for Data Dictionaries, Lineage, ADS, CDEs, and Data Products.
    • Partnering with CDAO, Consumer Lending Data Optimization, and the wider LBG data subject matter expert and architecture communities to establish a thought leadership stance and an integrated change backlog.
    • Evolving the operational model.
    • Collecting and analyzing data on customers, competitors, and market trends to propose informed and measurable strategies for business growth.
    • Identifying data use cases for new product development, optimization of data and business processes, reporting, dashboards, and analytics capabilities.

Required Qualifications
We seek a candidate who...

  • Demonstrates proven experience as a Product Owner utilizing Agile/Scrum methodologies to advance a vision and achieve outcomes, with a passion for applying transformation principles to foster continuous improvement.
  • Possesses intermediate skills in GCP, SQL, and Collibra for Metadata Management.
  • Has a solid understanding of data delivery, data warehousing, and reporting processes, alongside knowledge of GCP technology, data governance, quality, privacy, and controls within a large-scale organization.
  • Has experience in Backlog management, linking it to financial planning and cost control, with a track record of delivering within budget.
  • Is data-driven, employing evidence-based decision-making to articulate rationale.
  • Exhibits curiosity and a desire to learn new skills and agile methodologies.
  • Inspires others with enthusiasm and a collaborative spirit.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working as a data product owner and performing related tasks.
  • Ability to influence without authority, fostering trust and empowerment within the team.
  • Capacity to introduce innovative ideas and challenge conventional thinking to help shape the future of banking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, building effective working relationships, and demonstrating logical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • A passion for developing new methodologies while enhancing personal skills and experience.
