About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Mental Health Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team at East London NHS Foundation Trust. As a Specialist CAMHS ADHD Practitioner, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality mental health services to children and young people with ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment plans for children and young people with ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions.
  • Provide evidence-based clinical interventions, including individual and group therapy sessions, to support children and young people in achieving their full potential.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive care and support for children and young people.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with families and carers, providing them with support, guidance, and education to help them navigate the mental health system.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions, ensuring that they are aligned with best practice and evidence-based guidelines.
Person Specification
  • Education and Qualifications
    • Qualification in a relevant mental health profession, including clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or social work.
    • Postgraduate degree in a relevant field, such as a Master's or Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or social work.
    • Registration with a relevant professional body, such as the British Psychological Society or the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • Experience
    • Substantial experience in delivering mental health services to children and young people with ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions.
    • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team environment, with a focus on collaborative care and support.
    • Experience of developing and implementing treatment plans, including individual and group therapy sessions.
    • Experience of working with families and carers, providing them with support, guidance, and education.
  • Knowledge and Skills
    • Advanced knowledge of ADHD and neurodevelopmental conditions, including their assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
    • Expertise in evidence-based clinical interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and family therapy.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, young people, families, and carers.
    • Ability to work autonomously, with a high degree of professional autonomy and self-management.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Qualification as a non-medical prescriber.
  • Experience of teaching and training, including the development and delivery of training programs.
  • Experience of providing supervision and mentorship to junior staff members.
  • Experience of working in a leadership role, including the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
