About the WINGS Team

The WINGS (Women Individually Nurtured Grow Strength) team is a dedicated community-based midwifery unit within NHS Dumfries and Galloway. We provide specialized care and support to pregnant women facing complex social challenges that may impact their ability to parent.

Our Mission

We strive to empower women experiencing these difficulties by offering consistent, compassionate care throughout their pregnancy and postpartum journey. Our goal is to improve outcomes for both mothers and families through a holistic approach that addresses their unique needs.

Your Role as a Midwife Practitioner

As a key member of the WINGS team, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, labor, and postpartum care to women facing social complexities.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
  • Advocate for your patients' well-being and ensure they have access to necessary resources and support services.
  • Educate and empower women to make informed decisions about their health and pregnancy.
  • Contribute to a supportive and collaborative work environment.
