Job Summary

Chiltern Wood School is seeking a dedicated and supportive Educational Assistant to join our primary department. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting children with complex needs, including autism, and contributing to their educational and social development.

We are committed to providing a therapeutic approach to education, with a focus on building positive relationships with our pupils, their families, and supporting professionals. Our school is well-supported by occupational and speech and language therapists who work on-site, and we pride ourselves on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

As an Educational Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of children and young people, supporting their communication, physical, social, and emotional development. You will be well-supported by experienced and welcoming staff, and will have access to training and development opportunities to help you succeed in your role.

Responsibilities
  • Support children with complex needs, including autism, in a primary school setting
  • Contribute to the educational and social development of children and young people
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide individualized support to children, including communication, physical, and emotional support
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with children with complex needs is desirable, but not essential
  • Full training will be provided to support your role
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
