About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housekeeping / Laundry Attendant to join our team at KYN. As a key member of our housekeeping team, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout our care home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Life Enriching Activity Lead/Life Enriching Activity Co-ordinators in implementing a whole-home approach to providing meaningful occupation for all residents.
  • Take responsibility for completing all daily housekeeping schedules.
  • Ensure all rooms and communal areas are clean, tidy, prepared, and presented to the highest standards set out by the departmental SOPs.
  • Restock trollies at the end of each shift and store cleaning equipment in a tidy manner.
  • Deliver clean towels to allocated rooms and maintain clean and tidy linen rooms and trollies.
  • Manage the day-to-day operation of the laundry room, ensuring all uniforms and laundry supplies are cleaned to the highest standards.
  • Comply with instructions issued by the Head Housekeeper regarding the use of laundry equipment, materials, and chemicals.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to all laundry-related queries.
  • Undertake all laundry duties to the highest possible standard.
  • Ensure resident satisfaction and report any complaints to the Head Housekeeper immediately.
  • Maintain a comfortable, cared-for, well-maintained, and impeccable environment for residents and their family members.
  • Practice the correct use and care of all equipment, such as vacuum cleaners, trolleys, carpet cleaners, and steam cleaners.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Use cleaning agents correctly on all surfaces as directed.
  • Report any damage, wear, and tear, or maintenance issues arising in working areas to the Manager.
  • Report accidents or incidents to the Hospitality Manager.
  • Comply with COSHH regulations.
  • Present residents' rooms to KYN's standards while respecting residents' wishes.
  • Complete opening/closing checklists daily.
  • Utilize departmental resources effectively.
  • Sort and categorize soiled and fouled linen.
  • Operate laundry equipment safely.
  • Ensure all items are laundered, checking labels for correct washing and ironing instructions.
  • Mark personal clothing items with residents' names and re-mark if necessary before returning to rooms.
  • Sort and return laundered items to residents' rooms or linen cupboards.
  • Maintain the laundry equipment and area clean.
  • Replenish auto-dosing detergents and additives.
  • Contribute to the induction and training of new team members.
  • Be responsible for the health and safety of self, team members, residents, and visitors under Health and Safety and infection control regulations.
  • Report hazards or potential hazards to the person in charge or take other appropriate action within training and knowledge.
  • Attend statutory training sessions, ensuring practices reflect learning outcomes.
  • Respond politely and professionally to residents and knock before entering rooms.
  • Treat residents with dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
  • Comply with KYN's dress code while on duty.
  • Adhere to all KYN policies and procedures.
