About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Specialist Pharmacist to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert clinical pharmacy services to patients with complex respiratory disease or acute respiratory conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, cost-effective, patient-focused pharmaceutical care to patients.
  • Act as a clinical role model in their clinical areas and supervise rotational staff at ward level.
  • Promote safe drug use within the specialty.
  • Work closely with medical staff, nursing staff, allied healthcare professionals, and management teams to provide an enhanced clinical service to inpatients on the Respiratory Support Unit (RSU).
  • Support the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care, as well as the development of relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor drug expenditure within the directorate and advise on the most effective treatment options.
  • Lead and develop clinical pharmacy audit and practice research within the specialist area.
Requirements
  • GPhC registration.
  • Postgraduate clinical qualification or experience to an equivalent level.
  • Specialist knowledge acquired through post-graduate diploma.
  • Registered as an Independent Prescriber or ability to complete training upon appointment.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Supervisory/management training/qualification.
  • Registered Independent Prescriber.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
  • Experience of supervision/management of staff.
