About the Role

The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to lead the development and implementation of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) across the trust.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist to strategically develop ATMP clinical pharmacy services across the trust.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the provision of clinical pharmacy services and safe and effective ATMP implementation to all relevant wards, areas, and departments in the Clinical Management Groups (CMGs).
  • Lead and manage pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff working within the area, ensuring that service goals linked with ATMP use are achieved in line with priorities set by the pharmacy leadership team, CMG management teams, and Trust Board.
  • Maintain an overview of the activities of permanent and rotational staff in the pharmacy team, to ensure adequate cover for the provision of pharmacy services to the relevant CMG and delivery of agreed ATMP use across the trust.
  • Ensure appropriate training and supervision processes are in place for trainee pharmacists, apprentices, and rotational staff along with other trainees related to ATMPs.
  • Act as a leadership role model for pharmacy staff.
  • Assist in the development of training strategies to meet the training and development needs of staff.
  • Work with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist to develop appropriate business cases for the development of clinical pharmacy services and support for ATMP implementation and trust-wide use.
  • Identify and support the development of Clinical Improvement Programmes (CIPs) and efficiencies in conjunction with the Deputy Chief Pharmacist and work with pharmacy team colleagues to support the development and achievement of pharmacy CIPs.
Person Specification
  • MPharm postgraduate clinical qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Member of a professional organisation (RPS, UKCPA, BOPA).
  • Experience of working with ATMPs/ATIMPs in clinical areas and associated governance mechanisms required for safe management.
  • Proven ability to influence beyond professional boundaries.
  • Experience of leading a team delivering complex services.
  • Able to provide highly complex information on clinical pharmacy and issues and impart knowledge to other healthcare professionals (up to and including senior consultant level/regional level).
