Workshop Mechanical Technician

NES Fircroft is seeking a skilled Workshop Mechanical Technician to join its team in Aberdeenshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out all aspects of repair, overhaul, and assembly on a variety of drilling equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to risk assessments and toolbox talks to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform all job functions in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to company standards and procedures.
  • Carry out Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) to ensure that equipment meets company specifications.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of timesheets and inspection reports to facilitate effective project management.
  • Carry out Quality Control (QC) checks at the Goods In point to ensure that all incoming materials meet company standards.
  • Report and participate in investigations of all unsafe practices and/or behaviors to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Suggest improvements to working practices and company product lines to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure adherence to all local waste management policies and procedures to minimize environmental impact.
  • Operate forklifts, overhead gantry cranes, and vertical lift platforms, following thorough training and certification.
Requirements:
  • Hold a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) Level 3/HNC or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • Have a good working knowledge of fluid power systems, including design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Be experienced in pressure testing (gas and fluid-based) to ensure equipment safety and efficiency.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical systems, including design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Have the ability to read schematic and layout drawings to facilitate effective equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Be able to communicate effectively in English (written and oral) to ensure clear and concise communication with colleagues and management.
