About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic candidate for an exciting opportunity to undergo an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

The 4-year apprenticeship combines work-based training alongside experienced engineering technicians in the Radiation Physics mechanical workshop at Charing Cross Hospital, with fully funded block-release study at a local college.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake a BTEC National Diploma training to a Level 3 Engineering Technician Standard, specializing as a machinist.
  • Assist in carrying out the Planned Preventative Maintenance, servicing and repair of complex, patient-critical radiotherapy equipment.
  • Design and manufacture components using CAD programs and workshop machinery.
  • Work alongside the electronics engineers to maintain, repair and service linear accelerator treatment machines.
  • Develop skills in design, development and manufacture of medical devices.
