Workshop Engineer Job Description

Bennett & Game Recruitment is seeking a skilled Workshop Engineer to join our client's team in a world-renowned Construction and Industrial machinery company.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Workshop Engineer to provide support to our range of machinery at the respective depot. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the machinery in peak operating condition through scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and Diagnose Technical Issues: The Workshop Engineer will investigate, diagnose, and resolve customer reports of technical problems with equipment.
  • General Engineering Duties: The candidate will perform general engineering duties, including working at height, beneath, and within all plant machines.
  • Maintenance and Repair: The Workshop Engineer will repair and maintain machines using lifting equipment supplied.
  • Machine Movement and Servicing: The candidate will drive and move machines inside and outside of the workshop and service a wide variety of machines within the workshop.
  • Supervision and Leadership: The successful candidate will supervise other workshop engineers, when required, to ensure that a high quality of work and safe working procedure is maintained.
  • Coverage and Support: The Workshop Engineer will cover for the foreman when absent or on annual leave and assist in booking machines in and out.
  • Health and Safety: The candidate will ensure that their own tools are safe and legal to use, maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and adhering to the Company Health and Safety Policy.
Requirements
  • Experience: The successful candidate will have 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: The candidate will have a solid mechanical aptitude and the ability to service a wide range of heavy tracked plant machines.
  • Technical Skills: The Workshop Engineer will have the ability to investigate and diagnose technical problems, which involve climbing on top and underneath the heavy plant machinery.

  • Salary: The salary for this position is £15-£18 an hour (potentially £19 an hour).
  • Working Hours: The working hours for this position are 40 hours a week.
