About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 student with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs related to trauma. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with SEMH needs and a patient, empathetic approach to supporting students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a Year 5 student with SEMH needs, focusing on emotional, social, and academic development.
  • Implement strategies to manage the student's behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Assist with tailored lesson plans and differentiated learning materials to meet the child's specific needs.
  • Monitor progress and adapt support strategies as required.
  • Build a strong, trusting relationship with the student to help him feel safe and engaged in the classroom.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or Behaviour Mentor working with children with SEMH or trauma-related needs.
  • A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with both students and staff.
  • A relevant qualification (desirable but not essential).
  • A valid DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).
