Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engine test plans to ensure optimal performance and efficiency
  • Plan, execute, and analyze engine and system simulation activities to identify areas for improvement
  • Assess system performance, including trade-offs and data analysis, to optimize engine performance
  • Conduct data review and root cause analysis to identify powertrain system issues and develop solutions for resolution
  • Model and calibrate engine systems using toolsets such as Matlab SIMULINK
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives and promote best practices

Requirements:

  • Excellent understanding of diesel internal combustion engine operation and performance
  • Knowledge of ancillary systems, including air path, exhaust aftertreatment technologies, and control systems
  • Understanding of vehicle architecture and control systems
  • Experience or knowledge of vehicle emissions requirements
  • Good knowledge of simulation systems, particularly Matlab SIMULINK
  • Working knowledge of calibration toolsets and engine calibration, including trade-offs for emissions and performance
  • Excellent analytical skills, able to interpret data and results and present results in a clear and understandable format
  • Strong team player, with good communication and English language skills
  • A self-starter, 'can-do' approach, able to work with other team members at all levels to reach 'win-win' agreements
  • A strong willingness to learn and develop

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of the off-highway (NRMM) or heavy-duty on-road sector, including emissions legislation
  • Experience of using calibration and data analysis tools, such as AVL CONCERTO, Vector CANape, AVL CAMEO, DIAdem, etc.
  • Understanding of virtual calibration techniques, process, toolsets, and methodology
  • Expert NRMM ICE experience (calibration, analysis, and simulation)
  • Good knowledge of NRMM machines and associated systems
  • An interest in non-ICE based power technologies, such as fuel cells and battery systems
  • Controls and calibration development using SiL and MiL techniques
  • Familiarization with 1-D simulation tools, such as GT-Power
