Job Summary

As a Powertrain Calibration/System Performance Specialist at AVL, you will be responsible for defining, generating, and managing engine test plans. This includes planning, executing, and analyzing engine and system simulation activities, as well as assessing system performance and identifying powertrain system issues. You will work closely with a professional team to generate and present reports, including recommendations and proposals. Additionally, you will promote best practices and robust technical solutions using AVL toolsets.

Key Responsibilities

• Define, generate, and manage engine test plans
• Plan, execute, and analyze engine and system simulation activities
• Assess system performance and identify powertrain system issues
• Work with a professional team to generate and present reports
• Promote best practices and robust technical solutions

Requirements

• Excellent understanding of diesel internal combustion engine operation and performance
• Knowledge of ancillary systems, including air path and exhaust aftertreatment technologies
• Understanding of vehicle architecture and control systems
• Experience or knowledge of vehicle emissions requirements
• Good knowledge of simulation systems, particularly Matlab SIMULINK
• Working knowledge of calibration toolsets and engine calibration
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret data and results
• Strong team player with good communication and English language skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of the off-highway (NRMM) or heavy-duty on-road sector, including emissions legislation
• Experience of using calibration and data analysis tools
• Understanding of virtual calibration techniques, process, toolsets, and methodology
• Expert NRMM ICE experience in calibration, analysis, and simulation
• Good knowledge of NRMM machines and associated systems
• Interest in non-ICE based power technologies
• Controls and calibration development using SiL and MiL techniques
• Familiarization with 1-D simulation tools
