About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our team. As a Technical Writer, you will play a critical role in implementing our technical communications roadmap and supporting our product teams to fulfill their technical documentation requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author high-quality technical content, including standalone and complex documents.
  • Liaise with engineering staff to develop accurate and clear product content.
  • Coordinate large documentation projects and follow established procedures and guidelines to produce high-quality content.
  • Create, update, and develop technical content in various formats, including PDF, HTML, and online documentation.
  • Continually seek improvement on the structure and delivery of technical content.
  • Adapt readily to changing work demands and solve most issues, while escalating and seeking help when necessary.
  • Understand complex information, attend product training and engineering team meetings to build product knowledge, and transform specifications and engineering documentation/illustration into high-quality technical content.
  • Communicate effectively with all levels of JCI personnel, work collaboratively with colleagues, and report the status of work regularly.

Requirements

  • Ability to work on-site three days per week.
  • Master's degree in a writing or technical discipline (or bachelor's degree with relevant experience).
  • Minimum of two years' experience in writing and editing technical content.
  • Good understanding of document and revision control.
  • Good experience with sophisticated authoring tools, such as Microsoft Word, Oxygen, MadCap Flare, etc.
  • Ability to create technical illustrations using standard tools, such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Visio, etc.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivation, tenacity, flexibility, and reliability in approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge in the security physical access control domain.
  • Experience with sophisticated Machine Translation technologies.
