Job Title: Second in English

We are seeking an exceptional educator to join our English department as a Second in English. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced professional to lead and support the development of our English curriculum, ensuring that our students receive a high-quality education in this subject area.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Head of English in ensuring that our students achieve academic success in English language and literature skills. This will involve:

  • Developing and implementing schemes of work across key stages
  • Leading the staff in evaluating their own planning and that of the department
  • Ensuring the continual development of the curriculum, including enrichment
  • Leading on the department's Independent Learning policy
  • Acting as a subject mentor for Entry Level Teachers
  • Deputising for the Head of English at meetings if required
  • Keeping up to date with subject development
  • Carrying out Quality Assurance related to curriculum content
  • Modeling outstanding teaching and learning practices
  • Providing leadership in classroom management and behavior for learning
  • Demonstrating sound self-evaluation practices
  • Working collaboratively with Middle Leaders and the Senior Leadership Team
