Legal Support Specialist

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Legal Assistant to support our client, a local government organisation based in Bristol.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Civil Team to assist with administrative procedures involved in the early stages of the litigation process.
This is an initial 6-month contract with the possibility of extension. The role is office-based.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist with casework, working closely with legal officers and lawyers within the LRC team.
- Manage and maintain all files on the case management system.
- Prepare draft court applications based on precedents for the solicitor to review, including COP applications, county court proceedings, and magistrates court summons.
- Issue and serve court documentation in accordance with court rules, providing certificates of service to satisfy the court.
- Liaise with council officers, the court, barristers, and solicitors for other parties, expert and lay witnesses in relation to court proceedings.
- Prepare, file, and serve fully paginated and indexed court bundles in accordance with the court rules.
- Liaise with the court as needed throughout proceedings.
- Check availability of and book barristers where required.
- Demonstrate good experience of caseloads, clerical, and administrative support in a legal environment.
- Demonstrate a knowledge of legal terminology, practice, and procedure.
- Show an ability to communicate effectively at all levels, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate good interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of equalities and diversity issues.
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer, and a willingness to learn new applications and technology as appropriate.
Working Hours: 09:00am - 17:00pm, Monday - Friday
Pay: £17.19 p/h
Please note that this role is within the scope of IR35.
