Position Overview

As an Electrical Fitter in our Marine Division, you will engage in unique responsibilities that are crucial to our operations.


Your daily tasks will involve executing electrical fitting duties, conducting repairs, and performing inspections on various systems and equipment within our Marine division, as well as in other departments as necessary.


  • Carry out all scheduled preventative maintenance and nuclear-related tasks to meet departmental objectives.
  • Identify and rectify any system or manufacturing defects and modifications to ensure the ongoing functionality and efficiency of Marine Systems.
  • Ensure compliance with current operational processes and propose enhancements to systems and procedures to boost productivity in line with established goals and timelines.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, Safe Systems of Work, and control procedures as per BM&T Clyde policy.
Essential Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter

  • Proven experience in a marine or industrial engineering setting, particularly in electrical maintenance.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and under varying weather conditions.
  • Proficient in interpreting technical drawings and capable of quick problem-solving with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated focus on delivering high-quality work that meets stringent acceptance criteria.
  • Familiarity with maintenance protocols, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work, along with strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
36-hour work week.

8:05 to 16:45 Monday to Thursday, 8:05 to 12:05 on Friday. Full-time onsite.

Qualifications for the Electrical Fitter

  • Recognized Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship, qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or C&G equivalent), or HNC and above in an Electrical Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance level for this role.
