Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Consultant in Clinical Haematology to join our esteemed team at The Oldham Royal Hospital. This role is essential to our department, which currently comprises a team of 7 consultants.

This position has become available due to a recent retirement, and we are particularly interested in candidates with a strong focus on haematological malignancies. Additionally, a willingness to develop a subspecialty interest will be viewed favorably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive Consultant Haematologist services, including both outpatient and inpatient care, along with providing expert advice to colleagues and participating in on-call rotations.
  • Collaborate in the daily management of the Haematology Department.
  • Uphold the highest clinical standards in the treatment of haematology patients.
  • Engage in the education and supervision of junior staff and medical students.
  • Actively contribute to research and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in departmental and Trust-wide clinical governance and audit activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across various disciplines, external partners, and service users to foster a high-quality service.
  • Commit to shared departmental objectives by building effective teams and valuing the contributions of all members.

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCP and FRCPath or equivalent training and experience.
  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register-CCT or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or equivalent).

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications such as MD, PhD, or MSc.
  • Recognition as a Clinical and Educational Supervisor as per GMC Trainer Standards.

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential

  • Proficiency in interpreting and reporting laboratory data.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in clinical haematology and general medicine.

Desirable

  • Publication of research articles demonstrating a solid understanding of research methodologies.
