Position Overview

We are seeking to appoint a Pharmacy Support Specialist within the Pharmacy division at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHSFT.

In this role, you will engage in various responsibilities across our dispensing area, pharmaceutical inventory, and sterile preparation unit.

Collaborating with fellow Pharmacy Support Specialists and Pharmacy Technicians, you will contribute to a patient-centered medication dispensing service.

Candidates will be required to complete internal training and the NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services to facilitate all tasks as outlined in the Job Description and Person Specification.

A positive attitude, strong communication abilities, and proficient IT skills are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

This position involves rotation through the dispensing area, sterile preparation unit, and pharmaceutical inventory. You will assist in providing medications to both the public and in-patients on various wards utilizing our automated dispensing technology.

Your duties will include welcoming staff and patients at the dispensing reception. You will systematically record prescription information into the pharmacy tracking system, which is crucial for maintaining an efficient workflow.

You will be tasked with verifying and supplying pharmaceutical stocks at the ward level according to established lists, and you may also participate in the delivery of medications to the wards.

Additional responsibilities will encompass assisting in the sterile preparation unit where treatments such as chemotherapy are prepared.

Comprehensive training and support will be provided, and you must commit to completing the Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 Apprenticeship program.

Previous experience in a customer service environment is preferred, and familiarity with a healthcare setting would be beneficial.
