About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Recovery Support Specialist to join our team at Hestia Housing Support. As a Recovery Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing emotional support and guidance to individuals experiencing mental health crises in the Hillingdon Borough.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Emotional Support and Guidance: Offer one-to-one support, active listening, and coping strategies to individuals in mental health distress.
  • Empower Service Users: Clearly articulate the aims and objectives of our service, and empower service users to engage effectively with professionals in the community.
  • Develop Co-Produced Group Activities: Create and lead group activities, peer support networks, and community-based approaches to empower service users to achieve their goals and aspirations.
  • Monitor Health and Wellbeing: Actively monitor the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of service users and ensure all concerns are followed up promptly and in line with procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Team: Work flexibly as part of a team to ensure service coverage, meet contractual obligations, and participate in core work, including providing support to colleagues and carrying out tasks allocated by the service manager.
Requirements
  • Experience Working with Mental Health Issues: Demonstrable experience of working with individuals who have experienced mental health and/or dual diagnosis issues.
  • Knowledge of Mental Health Legislation: Knowledge of relevant Mental Health legislation, including Care Program Approach (CPA) processes.
  • Recovery Approaches: Understanding of the principles of recovery as an ethos and a range of recovery approaches.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work as part of a team, on own initiative, and to oversee induction of new peer staff and volunteers.
  • Health and Safety: Awareness of health and safety issues and ability to address them appropriately.
  • Flexibility and Availability: Ability to work Monday to Sunday, 14:00 to 22:00, including working bank holidays.
  • IT Skills: Good IT skills, including a working knowledge of functions in MS Word, Outlook, and the internet.
  • Literacy and Numeracy: Good literacy and numeracy skills, able to produce clear written correspondence in hard copy or email.
  • Safeguarding: Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to address them appropriately.
