Key Responsibilities

As an integral member of the senior project team, your role will encompass delivering exemplary service that fosters advocacy among customers and colleagues, adds value, and aids in achieving set performance indicators. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Overseeing the execution of project communication and community engagement plans, ensuring timely and relevant information is shared with all stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with the client service teams to address inquiries and resolve complaints efficiently and professionally.
  • Participating in internal project meetings and external community engagement forums.
  • Partnering with the Project Manager and client stakeholders to develop and implement community engagement and investment strategies.
  • Coordinating resources for participation in community relations events.
  • Establishing effective processes for managing local investment budgets and maintaining comprehensive records.
  • Creating and sustaining a robust site visit program to highlight expertise, enhance visibility, and build trust within the local community.
  • Supporting the execution of industry-wide initiatives such as community open days and awareness weeks.
  • Working closely with the UK Communications team to ensure consistent messaging, manage media relations, celebrate project achievements, and safeguard the Balfour Beatty brand.
  • Identifying potential risks and issues, and addressing them through proactive and reactive communication strategies.
  • Facilitating employee engagement activities to reinforce corporate messages, operational changes, and safety initiatives to achieve project KPIs.
  • Assisting in the creation of project presentations to ensure brand consistency and deliver where necessary.
  • Developing and producing required marketing materials in accordance with company branding standards.
  • Managing the department's event calendar, seeking publicity opportunities.
  • Leading engagement with local council stakeholders.
  • Monitoring trends in customer inquiries and complaints to inform operational adjustments and minimize future disruptions.
  • Overseeing the creation of project newsletters to ensure key messages relevant to each project phase are communicated.
  • Collaborating with peers in similar roles, both internally and externally, to enhance collective knowledge and practices.
  • Coordinating project registration with relevant industry schemes and maintaining site documentation.

Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in managing communications for construction or civil engineering projects.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to handle competing priorities.
  • Strong experience in community relations and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborative team player with negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Solid understanding of media dynamics.
  • Capability to manage, engage, and develop team members.
  • Experience in delivering engaging presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Continuous pursuit of value addition and performance enhancement.

  • Valid driving license and willingness to travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations, communications, or a related discipline.
  • Membership in professional organizations such as CIPR.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Familiarity with the regulatory landscape in construction, rail, or utility sectors.
