Position Overview

At AtkinsRéalis, our Building Design Practice integrates top-tier architecture, engineering, Building Surveying , and project management to deliver comprehensive services to our clients across various sectors. We are currently seeking to add a Junior / Graduate Building Surveyor to our growing team in Exeter. This role is ideal for individuals eager to advance their careers within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, providing a full range of building surveying services. You will engage in diverse and stimulating projects for esteemed clients spanning local and central government, as well as commercial and residential sectors.

The expansion of our Practice necessitates this recruitment, driven by our success and anticipated growth across multiple sectors. This position offers the chance to work with a globally recognized design and engineering consultancy, tackling a variety of projects of different scales throughout the South-west and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct measured and condition surveys, inspections, and schedules, along with managing minor works projects in the South-west.
  • Take responsibility for smaller projects with minimal supervision and provide assistance on larger projects under guidance.
  • Engage in design and specification writing, including the preparation of drawings, schedules of work, and specifications.
  • Attend and lead meetings with clients and other technical specialists.
  • Contribute technical expertise to enhance the quality of our work and the proficiency of our team.
  • Manage client relationships and service delivery on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with senior colleagues.
  • Support the development of new and repeat business opportunities where feasible.

Required Qualifications:

  • RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive surveying knowledge and expertise.
  • Aspiration to grow a career within a consultancy setting.
  • Commitment to pursuing RICS APC and ultimately achieving Chartered status.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-driven, and capable of working independently.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Proficient in IT, particularly MS Word and Excel; familiarity with AutoCAD, NBS Chorus, and REVIT is advantageous.
  • Thorough understanding of Health and Safety regulations.
  • A valid driving license is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation and Benefits:

We provide a competitive salary benchmarked against industry standards, along with a default of 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, with options to buy or sell leave. Salary and benefits will align with experience and qualifications.

Additional Information:

This role may require security clearance, and offers of employment will depend on obtaining the necessary level of clearance. If applicable, this will be discussed during the interview process. The vetting process is conducted by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require candidates to provide proof of residency in the UK for a minimum of five years.
