We are seeking a reliable and friendly Volunteer Befriender to join our team at SeeAbility. As a Befriender, you will play a vital role in the lives of the people we support, accompanying them to activities they enjoy and providing companionship.
Key Responsibilities- Attend activities with individuals, promoting social interaction and building relationships
- Provide emotional support and companionship, enhancing the quality of life for those we support
- Assist with daily tasks and activities, promoting independence and confidence
- Communicate effectively with individuals, staff, and other stakeholders, respecting confidentiality and data protection procedures
- Participate in training and development opportunities, enhancing your skills and knowledge
- Be kind, empathetic, and friendly, with a good sense of humour and ability to chat
- Be punctual and reliable, with a flexible approach to volunteering
- Be able to deal with information in line with our data protection and confidentiality procedures
- Be able to assist with sighted guide/orientation, if required
- Be over the age of 18, with a DBS check and two satisfactory references
At SeeAbility, we specialise in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism, who may also have sight loss, to realise their goals each and every day. We encourage people with disabilities to challenge what they expect from life, from themselves and from wider society.
