Job Title: Clinical Coder Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Coder Specialist to join our Clinical Coding Department at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing accurate and efficient clinical coding services to support our clinical teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Extract diagnoses and operations from summary sheets and health records for all inpatient and day case episodes.
  • Code any outstanding uncoded episodes as identified by computer printouts, ensuring work targets are met.
  • Act as a mentor and provide support and advice to junior coding staff.
  • Liaise with consultants, junior medical staff, and other teams to address queries arising during the abstraction process.
  • Participate in clinical coding projects and contribute to the development of coding procedures.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrable experience as a Clinical Coder.
  • Expertise in clinical coding using ICD10 and OPCS4 classifications.
  • Proven knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
  • Good keyboard skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
