Position Overview

The selected candidate will oversee the legal operations of Orbia's Koura Business Group within the United Kingdom and its engagements across the EMEA and India regions. This role will also involve collaboration on projects initiated from Orbia's headquarters.

  • Provide comprehensive legal support for Koura's business activities in the UK and EMEA/India, ensuring that the Koura General Counsel is kept informed of all developments.
  • Collaborate closely with the Koura General Counsel and legal team on significant, business-critical initiatives.
  • Manage external legal counsel, ensuring they deliver timely and effective advice while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Oversee and mentor junior legal staff and paralegals as the team expands.
  • Engage in various projects and initiatives within the Orbia Law Department as directed by the Koura General Counsel.
  • Occasionally provide legal assistance to other Business Groups within Orbia as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A robust background in corporate and commercial law, with experience in international legal matters gained from a reputable law firm and corporate environment. Proven ability to work collaboratively across different time zones and jurisdictions.
  • Extensive experience in negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts essential for high-stakes transactions. Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply legal concepts practically.
  • Experience in compliance program implementation, including areas such as antitrust, anti-corruption, and data privacy, along with the development and monitoring of corporate policies.
  • Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions is a plus. Exceptional organizational skills and the capacity to prioritize effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in technology, including contracts databases and electronic document management systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
  • A solid understanding of insurance and risk management principles, along with the ability to assess new legal trends and their implications for business objectives.
  • A commitment to integrity and compliance, with a willingness to travel as required for business needs.

Education and Credentials

  • A law degree and admission to practice in the UK, with a minimum of ten years of relevant experience, combining both law firm and in-house roles, particularly in advising manufacturing clients.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
