Job Summary:

The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Counsel EMEA Markets Legal: Clearance & Collateral Management to join our EMEA Markets Legal team. This role is located in London or Manchester – hybrid.

About the Role:

The Counsel EMEA Markets Legal: Clearance & Collateral Management will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the EMEA Markets business, with a focus on clearance and collateral management. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of EMEA CCM Legal and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality legal advice that meets the business's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and effective legal advice and support to the EMEA Markets business, with a focus on clearance and collateral management.
  • Work closely with the Head of EMEA CCM Legal and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality legal advice that meets the business's needs.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients and other third parties.
  • Advise on regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Support the development of new products and services, including collateral management and clearance.
  • Collaborate with other teams, including risk and compliance, to ensure that legal advice is aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide training and guidance to business colleagues on legal matters.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Circa 5-7 years of PQE with a legal background in institutional/wholesale banking and specifically trading, derivatives, securities financing transactions, and markets-related disciplines.
  • Expertise in collateral management, custody, or prime brokerage.
  • Working knowledge of markets regulatory frameworks.
  • Familiarity with clearing and settlement activities.
  • In-house legal and transactional banking operational experience at a global financial institution.
  • Experience with trading and derivative products.
  • Experience of interactions with markets legal and wider business/risk/compliance colleagues.
  • Experience with new product development and implementation of regulatory change.
