Position Overview

The role involves overseeing the legal operations of Orbia's Koura Business Group within the United Kingdom and its engagements across the EMEA region, including India. You will also provide support for projects originating from Orbia's headquarters.

  • Oversee all legal matters related to Koura's operations in the UK and EMEA/India, ensuring the Koura General Counsel is kept informed. Collaborate with product strategy and business development teams to facilitate timely contract negotiations.
  • Work alongside the Koura General Counsel and legal department colleagues on critical business initiatives.
  • Manage external legal counsel, ensuring they provide timely and effective advice while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Supervise junior legal staff and paralegals as they join the team.
  • Engage in various projects and initiatives within the Orbia Law Department as directed by the Koura General Counsel.
  • Provide legal assistance to other Business Groups as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Extensive experience in corporate and business law, with a strong background in managing international legal affairs from a reputable law firm and corporate environment. Proficient in handling commercial contracts critical to the organization. Exceptional contract drafting abilities and a solid understanding of contract principles.
  • Experience in compliance program implementation, including areas such as antitrust, anti-corruption, and data privacy, along with the development and monitoring of corporate policies. Familiarity with mergers and acquisitions is advantageous.
  • Outstanding analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize projects effectively to meet business objectives and deadlines. High technology proficiency, including experience with contract databases.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to quickly grasp business objectives and manage negotiations to achieve desired outcomes. Understanding of insurance and risk management concepts is beneficial.
  • Commitment to integrity and compliance, with a willingness to travel as business needs dictate.

Education and Credentials

  • Juris Doctor degree and admission to practice in the UK. A minimum of ten years of professional experience, combining law firm and in-house roles, particularly in advising manufacturing clients. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
