As a Sustainability Advisor at OHES Environmental, you will play a crucial role in our Consultancy Division, delivering expert environmental risk management services to clients, colleagues, and various stakeholders. Your expertise in contaminated land consultancy will be essential in executing environmental assessments, investigations, reporting, remediation verification, and comprehensive project management of environmental claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Overseeing and guiding the project management of environmental claims and commercial initiatives with dedicated support and training.
- Engaging with all relevant parties, including clients, contractors, and property owners.
- Conducting site assessments to evaluate the extent and severity of environmental impacts and risks.
- Documenting soil conditions during investigations to a high standard, adhering to industry best practices.
- Preparing health, safety, and environmental documentation, including risk assessments and method statements, while reporting health and safety near misses and positive observations.
- Planning and managing site investigations, monitoring, and remediation activities for smaller projects.
- Scheduling and analyzing field and laboratory data.
- With guidance and training, producing interpretive environmental reports, including conceptual site models (CSM) and preliminary risk assessments (PRA) along with site verification and validation reports.
- Assisting in the design, implementation, and verification of environmental remediation efforts.
- Managing project budgets and financial oversight.
- Demonstrating a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, technical excellence, commercial insight, organization, and client satisfaction.
- Crafting high-quality reports that are technically sound and commercially relevant.
- Performing any additional tasks assigned by supervision for which you are qualified and experienced.
Candidate Profile:
- A degree in a relevant earth science or geo-environmental field, with a preference for membership in a recognized professional organization.
- An MSc in a related discipline is advantageous but not mandatory.
- 2-3 years of experience in managing environmental incidents, conducting contaminated land surveys, and site investigations, with familiarity with various drilling techniques.
- Basic understanding of remediation technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater, including experience with petroleum hydrocarbon contamination, knowledge of CLR11 and BS10175, and experience in soil and rock logging per BS5930.
- A collaborative team player with the ability to work independently and self-motivate with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in managing projects to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
- Familiarity with current and emerging environmental legislation, guidance, and best practices related to contaminated land consultancy.
- Practical experience or solid knowledge of chemical analyses applicable to soil, water, and air samples.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with colleagues, clients, contractors, regulators, and other consultants.
- Competent in producing high-quality technical reports that are commercially focused and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated flexibility and strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft applications.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Possession of a full UK driving license.
