As a Sustainability Risk Advisor at OHES Environmental, you will play a pivotal role in our Consultancy Division, delivering expert environmental risk management services to clients, colleagues, and stakeholders. Your expertise in contaminated land assessment will be essential in executing environmental investigations, evaluations, reporting, remediation verification, and comprehensive project management of environmental claims.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and guide the management of environmental claims and commercial projects, with thorough support and training.
  • Engage with all stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and property owners.
  • Conduct site assessments to evaluate the extent and severity of environmental impacts and risks.
  • Document soil conditions during investigations to high standards, adhering to best practices.
  • Prepare health, safety, and environmental documentation, including risk assessments and method statements, and report on health and safety observations.
  • Plan and manage site investigations, monitoring, remediation, and validation tasks for smaller projects.
  • Schedule and analyze field and laboratory data.
  • With appropriate support and training, produce detailed environmental reports, including conceptual site models (CSM) and quantitative risk assessments (QRA).
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and verification of environmental remediation projects.
  • Manage project budgets and financial aspects effectively.
  • Commit to maintaining high standards of safety, technical integrity, commercial insight, organization, and client satisfaction.
  • Generate high-quality reports that are technically accurate and commercially viable.
  • Perform any additional tasks assigned by supervisors that align with your qualifications and experience.

Candidate Profile:

  • A degree in a relevant earth science or geo-environmental field, with membership in a professional organization preferred.
  • An MSc in a related discipline is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • 2-3 years of experience in managing environmental incidents, conducting contaminated land surveys, and site assessments, with familiarity in drilling techniques.
  • Basic understanding of remediation technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater, with experience in projects involving petroleum hydrocarbon contamination.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and demonstrate self-motivation for independent work.
  • Capability to take ownership of projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Knowledge of current and emerging environmental legislation and best practices relevant to contaminated land consultancy.
  • Practical experience or solid understanding of chemical analyses for soil, water, and air samples.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and promptly with colleagues, clients, contractors, and regulators.
  • Competence in producing high-quality technical reports that are commercially focused and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with a flexible approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications and general computer literacy.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK and possession of a full UK driving license.
