About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Specialist Practitioner to join our dynamic team of clinicians in Colorectal Surgery. As a key member of the multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive service for managing patients referred to the colorectal service on a two-week rule pathway.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver exceptional, high-quality care at a specialist clinical level, making critical, informed decisions based on advanced clinical skill assessments.
  • Take charge of entire care episodes, collaborating with colleagues, delegating tasks, and making referrals to maximise health outcomes and resource efficiency.
  • Provide direct support to patients and clients, ensuring their needs are met with compassion and expertise.
  • Lead with confidence, inspiring both medical and nursing teams, and act as a role model for the Trust, projecting a positive and professional image to patients and staff alike.
  • Champion the development of an organisational culture that values continuous learning, evidence-based practice, and succession planning.
  • Engage deeply in research activities, following best practice guidelines to develop and implement evidence-based strategies.

Person Specification
  • Highly motivated and experienced practitioner with a substantive range of experience within a relevant clinical setting.
  • Broad and advanced knowledge of clinical pathophysiology.
  • Sound level of knowledge in relation to relevant invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage conflicting pressures to maintain streamlined service delivery.
  • Leadership experience, including delivering to targets and service improvement.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the service and with patients.
  • Committed to continuing professional development of self and others.
  • Experience of clinical research and leading on clinical audit and translation to service development.
Qualifications and Education
  • Current professional body registration (e.g. NMC/HCPC).
  • Professional clinical qualification or working towards a specialist qualification.
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification where professionally able to.
  • BSc in an appropriate clinical field.
  • Masters-level study in advanced clinical practice or working towards this.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
