The Committee Services team at the Greater London Authority (GLA) provides a premier shared service secretariat function for various boards, including those of the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.

Position OverviewAs a Governance Officer, you will be part of a high-achieving team located at City Hall, renowned for its excellence. You will engage with a variety of key stakeholders and partnership boards, as well as internal governance groups, delivering essential corporate services within a fast-paced and strategically oriented organization.
Your responsibilities will involve interacting with senior officials, politicians, and board members, contributing to initiatives that are often highlighted in the media.
The role will also encompass coordinating the formal governance of the Royal Docks Enterprise Zone, which is evolving into one of London's most vibrant new districts for business and culture.
Key Responsibilities- Manage formal meetings that involve decision-making processes, ideally within a high-profile or complex organization.
- Interpret and apply best practices in governance.
- Demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills, managing time, priorities, and risks effectively.
- Build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of individuals, sharing knowledge and skills to achieve common objectives.
- Exhibit organizational awareness, understanding the dynamics, culture, and politics within and beyond the GLA.
To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess:
- A proven history of managing formal meetings with decision-making elements.
- Excellent written communication abilities.
- Self-motivation and the capacity to consistently meet challenging deadlines in a high-pressure environment.
- The ability to liaise confidently and diplomatically with senior staff and politicians.
