Overview

The Marine Quality Assurance Analyst plays a crucial role in ensuring that all marine quality assurance activities align with established standard operating procedures and risk profiles. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and safety of marine operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute vetting and clearance processes, including the assessment and screening of vessels and terminals within the oil, gas, and chemical sectors.
  • Review audit and incident reports from vessel and terminal operators to verify compliance with industry standards and suitability for Client services.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments of third-party marine assets, providing recommendations for risk mitigation when necessary.
  • Ensure operational assurance for time-chartered vessels, focusing on health, safety, security, and environmental (HSSE) performance.
  • Assist in the execution of terminal and refinery audits and inspections.
  • Collaborate with the MQA Superintendent to uphold the consistent application of marine assurance policies and procedures.
  • Perform TMSA verification audits for vessel operators, ensuring alignment with self-declarations and Client acceptance criteria.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Audit and Inspection team to enhance audit and inspection best practices.
  • Identify current and future marine-related activities, offering early advice to ensure compliance with marine quality requirements.
  • Maintain accurate data within the MQA system and other relevant databases to support informed decision-making.
  • Offer vetting and clearance support to terminals, charterers, and vessel operators as needed.
  • Drive innovation and development to improve systems, processes, and capabilities, enhancing operational efficiency.
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports detailing key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreement (SLA) performance.
  • Undertake additional tasks relevant to the role as required.

Candidate Requirements

  • A Class 2 OOW deck or engine Certificate of Competency (CoC) or a marine degree with extensive industry experience, such as a Naval Architect or Classification Surveyor. Alternatively, a Class 3 OOW CoC with a structured training plan to advance from the Marine Quality Assurance Specialist Assistant role.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, across all organizational levels.
  • Ability to engage effectively with management in third-party marine companies.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Proven leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to address complex operational challenges.
  • Awareness of the commercial sensitivity of MQA information, demonstrating sound business integrity.
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards in business conduct.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Formal training in accident and incident investigation.
  • SIRE 2 Inspector accreditation.
  • Previous experience as a Marine Quality Assurance Specialist Assistant.
