Job Title: Senior Welding and Materials Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Welding and Materials Engineer to join our UK & Global IRM team in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to various engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist knowledge and expertise to the organisation, including reviewing welding and materials procedures for linepipe, spools, manifolds, and towheads.
  • Problem-solve to provide solutions to the organisation in relation to welding and materials.
  • Ensure technical compliance is maintained in the work conducted.
  • Provide technical support for procurement activities, including provision of specifications, datasheets, and resolution of technical issues.
  • Provide technical support for subsea 7 and subcontracted fabrication activities.
  • Provide technical support to tenders and studies.
  • Mentor and supervise less experienced engineers as needed.
  • Interface with various stakeholders, including Subsea 7 PPG, members of the welding and materials team, clients, quality department, project teams, and subcontractors.
  • Liaise with clients and inspection verification bodies and technical authorities.
  • Liaise with other discipline teams as part of dedicated project teams.
  • Identify and control discipline-specific project budgets.
  • Review suites of documents from subcontractors.
  • Provide materials support to the structural discipline for spools/structural pipework, including pipes, bends, fittings, flanges, valves, and structures.
Requirements:
  • A degree in metallurgy, materials technology, or a suitable degree.
  • Experience working in a subsea materials engineering position or similar.
  • Good knowledge of applicable materials standards and specifications.
  • Experience in dealing with various departments and external suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Desirable knowledge of BS pt1/pt2 and DNV-ST-F.
  • Good organisation and systematic working methods.
  • Good communication skills and ability to interface with various stakeholders and departments.
  • A positive attitude.
  • A high level of integrity.
  • Strong analytical skills.
