About the Role

Jamie Fisher and Sons plc is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to provide engineering design solutions and through-life engineering support to our military product range. As a technical lead, you will drive new product designs to meet client requirements and support existing clients' requests to upgrade or change equipment in the field.

This role will suit a confident Senior Mechanical Engineer who is experienced in making engineering decisions and can manage and coordinate a small team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide engineering design input to new products.
  • Provide engineering support to the existing product range.
  • Assess technical queries and provide engineering solutions to a wide-ranging products portfolio.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure the best technical solution is provided.
  • Sourcing suitable components and materials when required.
  • Creation of part numbers and bill of materials.
  • Creation of engineering documentation.
  • Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
  • Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget.
  • Adherence to engineering and company standards and processes.
  • Site visits to other offices and client assets as required.
  • Accountability and responsibility as technical approver of drawings and documentation.
Requirements
  • Proven mechanical design skills.
  • Skilled in generating design calculations.
  • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing techniques.
  • Excellent knowledge of gas and fluid systems.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Vessel design skills using PD5500, ASME VIII, EN 13445.
  • Knowledge of design standards.
  • Knowledge of industry guidelines such as IMCA.
  • Previous product design experience would be advantageous.
