Job Title: Head of Youth Employment

We are seeking an experienced and inspiring leader to join our team as the Head of Youth Employment. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and lead our youth employment programme, working with local partners and stakeholders to create meaningful long-term outcomes for disadvantaged young people in Blackburn with Darwen.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges facing young people in our community and a passion for delivering impactful youth employment programmes. They will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our youth employment programme, working closely with our team and partners to ensure the programme is delivered to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of our youth employment programme, working closely with our team and partners to ensure the programme is delivered to the highest standards.
  • Work with our CEO and Senior Management Team to develop and implement a sustainable funding model for the programme.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with local partners, stakeholders, and employers to ensure the programme is well-supported and has a strong pipeline of opportunities for young people.
  • Oversee the delivery of the programme, ensuring high-quality, consistent delivery of all pillars, including mentoring, family engagement, and practical experience.
  • Manage a team of delivery staff, supervising and developing them to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver the programme effectively.
  • Monitor and evaluate the programme's impact, using data and stakeholder feedback to inform decisions and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of impact management within the programme, ensuring that all staff are aware of the importance of measuring and reporting on outcomes.
Requirements
  • 3+ years' experience of designing, developing, and managing programmes with multiple workstreams for young people.
  • 3+ years' experience of leading, line managing, training, and developing delivery staff.
  • Strong background in monitoring performance, using databases/CRM systems, and reporting on outcomes.
  • Thorough understanding of safeguarding policies and experience managing concerns and implementing procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective external partnerships to achieve organisational aims, ideally including schools, community organisations, and employers.
  • An ability to work proactively, manage multiple priorities, and use initiative to find effective solutions to problems.
  • Excellent organisation and administration skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to empathise with others.
  • An understanding of and commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in programme delivery and the workplace.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A willingness to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
