We are currently seeking a Senior Commercial Manager for our Packed Products division. This pivotal role will be based at our head office, contributing to our mission of fostering a dynamic and inclusive workplace. We believe that diversity in our workforce enhances our performance and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

In this essential position, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Specialist Products sales team adheres to legal standards and Group protocols regarding safety and business ethics. Collaborating closely with the Packed Products Director, you will formulate and execute a sales strategy, aiming to meet and surpass established sales targets to drive revenue and contribution margin growth for both new and existing clientele.

Your role will also involve:

  • Developing and implementing innovative sales growth strategies based on comprehensive market analysis to achieve and exceed annual sales forecasts.
  • Representing the organization at industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events, while nurturing and enhancing relationships to support sales objectives.
  • Providing leadership and direction to the Sales teams, ensuring all goals and targets are met, while fostering a high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement.
  • Creating challenging improvement plans and ensuring that the organization is adequately resourced and skilled to meet its objectives through effective training and performance management.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Achieving sales targets aligned with the Specialist Products strategy.
  • Enhancing the capabilities of both external and internal sales teams.
  • Supporting brand marketing initiatives to facilitate the sales strategy.
  • Ensuring all trading agreements comply with legal standards and meet business requirements.

Sales and Service Focus

  • Contributing to and shaping the sales strategy.
  • Establishing processes for internal and external partnerships, including order management and fulfillment.
  • Collaborating with Technical Sales Managers and Internal Sales Teams to develop account plans for priority clients.
  • Maintaining personal relationships with key accounts as necessary.

Planning and Pricing Strategy

  • Assisting in the development of Specialist Products S&OP Sales forecasts.
  • Making recommendations for the pricing strategy and executing the plan.

Technical Sales Collaboration

  • Working with Technical teams to enhance internal support and technical knowledge within sales teams.
  • Achieving price growth that outpaces inflationary pressures.
  • Utilizing teams to capitalize on sales opportunities while managing associated risks.

Other Responsibilities

  • Identifying resource needs to fulfill the Specialist Products sales strategy.
  • Engaging, motivating, and developing the sales teams to excel in performance and customer relationship management.
  • Supporting customer retention through effective relationship management.
  • Recruiting and developing talent to align with succession plans.
  • Modeling Tarmac values and behaviors, ensuring they are communicated and integrated within the team.
  • Focusing on value generation, margin enhancement, market share growth, and overall business results.
  • Monitoring achievement against operational sales metrics.
  • Fostering employee engagement and improving staff performance.
  • Contributing to the development of new product pipelines.
  • Ensuring high levels of technical knowledge within sales teams to meet customer expectations.
  • Effectively resolving customer complaints.
  • Creating a positive work culture that promotes effective people management and career development.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications:

  • A degree (preferred but not mandatory) or equivalent experience.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Proven experience in managing complex negotiations with key stakeholders in the building materials sector.
  • A successful track record in leading and developing sales teams.
  • Experience in project management and crafting compelling sales propositions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on enhancing profitability.
  • Ability to implement change effectively and seek continuous improvement.
