About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Director to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Chief Operating Office (COO), you will play a critical role in shaping the company's internal and external communications strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive internal communications strategy to enhance colleague engagement and productivity.
  • Partner with the COO leadership to develop a strong narrative and messaging framework that supports the company's business objectives.
  • Drive the company's reputation as an employer-of-choice through proactive storytelling and content creation.
  • Collaborate with communications colleagues across BAE Systems to ensure a unified and consistent communications approach.
  • Act as a conduit to external communications teams to generate communications that support the company's commercial and reputation objectives.
  • Work with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to deliver communication plans and activities that enhance colleague engagement and productivity.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in internal communications, with a strong track record of developing and implementing effective communications strategies.
  • Ability to develop and articulate a clear communication strategy aligned with the organization's goals.
  • Competent at leading tactical projects and delivering through various business and functional teams.
  • Proven experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a communications team, ensuring collaboration and high performance.
  • Exceptional writing skills to produce clear, concise, and error-free content for different channels.
  • Confidence and ability to effectively communicate in front of diverse audiences, including employees and senior-level stakeholders.
  • English qualifications – GCSE.
  • Ideally a degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
