Position Title: Medication Assistance Program Specialist (LPN)

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to enhance their team within the Health Department. This role involves overseeing the Medication Assistance Program, aimed at supporting individuals in need of essential medications while fostering community engagement with the program.

  • Conduct client interviews and provide guidance in accordance with program protocols.
  • Employ critical thinking and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.
  • Ensure precise completion of necessary documentation.
  • Facilitate referrals for medical services and community support.
  • Provide administrative assistance for departmental initiatives.
  • Engage in emergency response efforts as required.

The mission of the Virginia Department of Health is to protect and improve the health of all Virginians. The Health Department serves various communities across the state.

This position is supported by grant funding for a designated timeframe and is contingent upon annual funding assessments. Continuation of employment is reliant on the availability of funds.

Health-Care Personnel are required to submit proof of immunizations against specific diseases, including seasonal flu vaccinations.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Licensure as a Practical Nurse as mandated by the state.
  • Understanding of nursing methodologies, public health concepts, and quality control.

  • Ability to document information clearly and accurately.
  • Capability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with others.

Additional Preferences:

Certification in CPR and prior experience in public health settings are considered beneficial.
