Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the Virginia Department of Corrections. As an LPN, you will provide evidence-based nursing care to patients in a correctional setting, utilizing the nursing process, principles, practices, and techniques of general nursing care.
Responsibilities- Provide nursing care to patients in a correctional setting, including administering medications, providing first aid, and maintaining open lines of communication with security and treatment staff.
- Screen for sick call, refer necessary cases to other medical professionals, and maintain appropriate documentation.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) is required.
- Experience working in a corrections or law enforcement environment, and experience or related training in delivery of general nursing and emergency medical care is preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Must possess and maintain a valid unrestricted Virginia LPN license issued by the board of nursing or a multi-state compact license.
- Ability to maintain appropriate documentation, provide first aid, and carry out providers' orders in applying treatments.
